Amazon.com is an online store owned by the American company Amazon.com, Inc. in the state of Washington. It is one of the oldest and largest stores of its kind. In 1994,, when the internet was starting, Jeff Bezos was already operating a bookshop called Cadabra.com, which he renamed to Amazon after the Amazon River in the same year. Today, the company's revenue is around USD 7 billion per year, and it is one of the few companies that manages to grow even in times of economic crisis.
In 2013, Amazon decided to build two logistics centres (huge facilities with racks and packaging lines where palletised goods from manufacturers are unpacked then repacked in smaller packages for end customers)[6] in the Czech Republic, each costing CZK 1 billion and occupying an area of 95,000 m² (an area of about 13 soccer fields and equal to the largest
storage facility in Germany). Amazon was also considering Poland as the home of these facilities, but in the end selected the Czech Republic.
